The honest summary
There is no cookie banner on this site, and that is deliberate rather than an oversight. Under the ePrivacy Directive and equivalent laws, consent is required for storage that is not strictly necessary. Nothing here needs consent, because nothing here tracks you.
| Kind of storage | Used? | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Authentication cookies | No | There are no accounts. |
| Analytics cookies | No | Measurement is cookie-less and aggregated. |
| Advertising cookies | Not by us | Any ad partner sets its own — see below. |
| Session cookies | No | No server-side session exists. |
localStorage | Yes, two entries | Theme preference and recently used tools. |
What this site stores
| Key | Contents | Purpose | Expires |
|---|---|---|---|
collabstool-theme | "light" or "dark" | Applies your colour scheme before first paint, so the page does not flash the wrong theme on load. Strictly necessary for the feature to work. | Never — until you clear it |
collabstool-recent | Up to twelve tool slugs and visit timestamps, e.g. [{"slug":"word-counter","at":"…"}] | Powers the “Jump back in” strip on the homepage. It records which tools you opened, never anything you typed into them. | Never — until you clear it |
Neither value is sent to us. Neither is used to identify you, to build a profile, or to target advertising. Clearing them costs you nothing but a theme preference and a shortcut list.
Third-party storage
This site loads no social-media widgets, no embedded video players, no live-chat scripts and no third-party fonts, each of which is a common and often invisible source of tracking storage.
If display advertising is shown, the advertising partner may set its own cookies or storage on pages where its adverts appear. That storage is governed by the partner’s policy, not this one, and we have no access to it. We do not pass any data about you to advertising partners. Most browsers allow you to block third-party cookies entirely without affecting the tools.
How to delete or block storage
Every mainstream browser lets you inspect and clear site data. The steps are broadly:
- Chrome and Edge: Settings → Privacy and security → Site settings → Additional content settings → On-device site data, then search for
collabstool.com. - Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data → Manage Data, then search for
collabstool.com. - Safari: Settings → Privacy → Manage Website Data, then search for
collabstool.com.
To clear only the recently-used list without touching anything else, use the Clear history button on the homepage strip — it removes the entry directly.
Blocking all site storage will not break any tool. It will reset your theme on each visit and stop the homepage remembering what you last used.
Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control
We do not track you, so there is nothing for these signals to opt you out of. If a third-party advertising script is present, its response to them is governed by that party, not by us.
Changes to this policy
If we ever introduce storage that is not strictly necessary — an account, for example, or a personalisation feature — this page will be updated first, the new entries will be listed in the table above with their purpose, and consent will be requested before they are written where the law requires it.
