The colour-dodge sketch trick
A convincing pencil sketch comes from a classic technique: convert to grayscale, invert it, blur the inverted copy, then blend the blur back over the original using colour dodge. Where tones are similar the result blows out to white paper; where they differ, dark graphite-like lines remain. The outcome looks hand-drawn rather than filtered.
