1. Agreement
By accessing or using Collabs Tool at collabstool.com (the “Service”), you agree to these terms. If you are using the Service on behalf of an organisation, you are agreeing for that organisation and confirming you are able to. If you do not agree with any part of them, do not use the Service.
The Service is operated by Collabs Tool (“we”, “us”). Our Privacy Policy, Cookie Policy and Disclaimer form part of these terms.
2. What the Service is
A collection of free utilities that run in your web browser: image conversion and compression, PDF operations, text processing, developer utilities, SEO checks, calculators and generators. Almost all processing happens on your own device, which means the Service is closer to software you run locally than to a hosted application that holds your files.
No account is required and none is currently offered. There is no charge, no quota and no watermark on output.
3. Licence to use
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the Service for any lawful purpose, including commercial work. There is no restriction on what you may do with output you produce here — you own it, exactly as you owned the input.
That licence does not extend to the Service itself. You may not copy, mirror, re-publish, reverse-engineer, resell or redistribute the site, its design or its source code without written permission.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to use the Service to:
- Process material you do not have the right to process, including copyrighted work without permission or content that infringes somebody’s privacy.
- Create anything unlawful, defamatory, harassing or deceptive — including forged identity documents, falsified records or impersonation material.
- Attack or disrupt the site: automated scraping at volume, denial-of-service traffic, probing for vulnerabilities without permission, or circumventing a stated limit.
- Misrepresent the source of output, for example by presenting a machine-generated result as an official document issued by a third party.
Because processing is local, most misuse is a matter between you and whoever is affected by it rather than something we can technically prevent. That does not make it permitted. We may block access to anyone we believe is breaching this section.
5. Your content
You keep every right you have in the files and text you process. We take no licence to them, because we never receive them. Nothing you upload — and nothing is uploaded — becomes ours, and no output is claimed by us.
You are responsible for the content you bring to the Service and for what you do with the result.
6. Our content
The site’s design, text, editorial copy, branding, tool descriptions and source code are ours or licensed to us, and are protected by copyright and trade mark law. Quoting a sentence with attribution is fine; reproducing a tool page, a category hub or the visual design is not.
7. Output is not warranted
This is the section worth reading carefully, because it is where a conversion tool can genuinely cost somebody work.
Many operations here are lossy by nature. Converting a PNG photograph to JPG discards data irreversibly. Compressing an image reduces quality. Re-encoding a PDF may alter embedded fonts, metadata or transparency. Rasterising an SVG throws away the vectors. Where a tool cannot preserve something, its page says so — but the responsibility for keeping an original before overwriting it is yours.
Calculators and generators are provided for convenience. A BMI figure is not a medical assessment, an age calculation is not a legal determination, colour contrast ratios are computed against WCAG 2.1 and not against any later standard, and CMYK values are approximations with no ICC profile behind them. Check anything that matters against an authoritative source.
8. No warranty
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that a given tool will produce the result you expect from a given input.
Browser capabilities vary. A tool that works in one browser may behave differently or be unavailable in another, and we do not guarantee support for any particular browser, version or device.
9. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, neither Collabs Tool nor anyone involved in creating, producing or delivering the Service is liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profit, revenue, goodwill or anticipated saving, arising out of your use of or inability to use the Service.
Our total aggregate liability for any claim connected with the Service is limited to the greater of one hundred US dollars or the amount you have paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim — which, for a free service with no account, will normally be nothing.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including death or personal injury caused by negligence, or fraud.
10. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Collabs Tool from any claim, demand, loss or liability arising out of your use of the Service, your breach of these terms, your violation of any third-party right, or the content you process or produce with the tools.
11. Third-party services
The Service may link to external sites, and some tools generate output containing links — a QR code, a UTM-tagged URL, an Open Graph preview. Those destinations are not ours, are not covered by these terms, and we accept no responsibility for them. Previewing how a URL will appear on a social network does not mean that network has endorsed, reviewed or been contacted by us.
12. Advertising and future paid features
The Service may display advertising. A premium tier may be introduced later, covering server-side processing of very large files, saved history, higher limits and an ad-free experience. If it is, its terms will be published separately and will apply only to that tier. No tool that is free today will be moved behind a payment.
13. Changes to the Service and to these terms
Tools are added, changed and occasionally retired. We may modify or discontinue any part of the Service at any time, and will aim to give notice on the affected page where a change would break somebody’s workflow.
We may revise these terms. Material changes will be indicated by the “last updated” date at the top of this page. Continuing to use the Service after a change constitutes acceptance of it.
14. Termination
You may stop using the Service at any time; there is nothing to cancel and no data to request back. We may suspend or terminate access, without notice, to anyone breaching these terms or using the Service in a way that harms others or the site.
15. Size and rate limits
Tools accept files up to 25 MB by default and 100 MB at most, in batches of up to 20 files. These are technical limits reflecting what a browser can hold in memory, not commercial ones. We may also rate-limit requests to the site to protect it from abuse.
16. General
These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which you reside, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. If any provision is found unenforceable, the remainder continues in full force. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it. These terms, with the policies linked above, are the entire agreement between us about the Service.
17. Contact
Questions about these terms: legal@collabstool.com. Anything else: hello@collabstool.com, or the contact page.
