Overview

About the AI Text Humanizer

Turn AI-generated text into natural human prose. Rewrites machine clichés, varies sentence rhythm, converts passive voice and strips filler, then lists every replacement it made and scores both versions.

Machine-written prose is recognisable before anybody can say why. The vocabulary is part of it — a model reaches for "delve", "leverage", "seamless" and "in the realm of" at a rate no person sustains — but the louder tell is shape. Every sentence close to the same length, every paragraph the same tidy size, a transition word opening sentence after sentence, and an em dash where a person would have used a comma or a full stop.

Rewriting that by hand is slow and repetitive work, because the same dozen problems turn up in the same order in every draft. This tool automates exactly that pass, and it does it with a dictionary rather than a model.

Not a language model, and that cuts both ways

There is no generation step anywhere on this page. What runs is a deterministic pipeline: a large dictionary of machine phrasing, a set of sentence-level transformations, and readability arithmetic. The same input always produces the same output.

That is an advantage in one direction and a limit in the other. It cannot invent a fact, a citation, a quotation or a figure, because there is nothing in it capable of inventing one — which is what makes it a reasonable place to put client copy, an unpublished manuscript or a legal draft. It also cannot notice a claim that was already wrong, or supply an argument the draft does not have. Precision about wording, ignorance about your subject.

The eighteen passes

The pipeline runs in a fixed order and each pass does one narrow job:

PassWhat it changes
Clean charactersSmart quotes, stray spaces, unicode noise
AI phrases738 multi-word machine clichés
AI words810 flagged terms, each with its plain replacements
Plain wording438 long words traded for shorter ones
Empty fillers"it is important to note that" and its relatives
Transition stackingThins out Moreover, Furthermore and Additionally
Em dashesReplaced with commas or full stops
Passive to active"was written by" becomes "wrote"
Split long sentencesBreaks a sentence past the word limit into two
Contractions"do not" becomes "don't"
Break machine rhythmVaries repeated openers, flattens "not only… but also"
Human voiceTurns a stiff construction into a direct question
Length varietyBreaks up paragraphs so the page is not a wall of same-size blocks
Reduce repetitionSwaps words used four or more times in one paragraph
Machine sentence patternsSplits a trailing clause into its own beat
Stock phrase sweepRemoves the phrasing the fingerprint score itself charges for
Repeated sentence shapeRewords a sentence whose shape another one already uses
Final tidyPunctuation spacing, capitals, duplicated words

The order is not arbitrary. Cleaning characters first means every later pass matches against normalised text. Splitting sentences before the rhythm pass means the rhythm pass measures sentences that will actually survive. The stock phrase sweep runs after the vocabulary passes, because it removes phrasing the scoring model charges for, and the final tidy runs last so nothing upstream re-breaks the punctuation it just fixed.

Choosing a strength

Light changes only the most obvious machine tells and leaves sentence order alone. Use it on a draft that is already yours and merely picked up some machine phrasing along the way.

Balanced is the default and the right starting point: AI phrasing rewritten, long sentences split, passive voice converted.

Strong adds contractions, rhythm repair, paragraph breaking and repetition control. Use it on text that came out of a model in one pass and has never been edited by anybody.

Every pass also has its own toggle underneath the strength selector, so the presets are a starting position rather than a cage. If the result reads too far from your draft, turn passes off one at a time rather than dropping the whole strength a level — you will usually find a single pass doing most of the work.

The two things no rewrite can supply

Structure is one of the two independent halves of what a detector measures, and two of its terms are content rather than style: whether anybody is in the text, and whether anything in it could be pointed at. A first person, an opinion, a real number, a specific example, a "you" aimed at the reader.

No rewrite can add those honestly, because inventing an opinion or a figure is the one thing this engine refuses to do. The AI Content Detector reports how many points those two terms are worth on your draft and lists the sentences to add them to. That work is yours, and it is also the part that makes the biggest difference to the final score.

After the rewrite

Measure the result instead of trusting it. Both versions are scored on the same fingerprint model and the same six readability formulas, with the deltas shown beside each other, so you can see whether the text actually got easier to read or only got differently worded. A rewrite that lowers the AI score while raising the grade level is a trade worth knowing about before you publish.

Then read the change log. It is the reason the output is not a black box: every replacement appears with the original beside it and the pass that made it, so you can accept the rewrite in full or undo the three places where a rule got in the way of a meaning you intended.

Everything runs in this tab — no upload, no API key, no account and no rate limit, which is also why a 60,000-word document is fine to paste.

Step by step

How to use the AI Text Humanizer

  1. Paste the AI-written text you want rewritten — up to 400,000 characters.

  2. Choose a strength: Light touches only the obvious tells, Balanced rewrites phrasing and sentence shape, Strong adds contractions, rhythm repair and repetition control.

  3. Pick a tone — Casual, Neutral or Formal — which sets contractions and how long a sentence is allowed to be.

  4. Switch off any individual pass you would rather keep, then press Humanize text.

  5. Compare the before and after scores, read the list of every replacement, then copy the rewrite or download it as a .txt file.

Why use it

Benefits and common use cases

What this tool is good for, and what it deliberately does not try to do.

A rule engine, not a model

738 phrase rules and 810 word swaps run in your browser with no generation step, so nothing can be invented. Your facts, figures and claims come out exactly as they went in.

Every replacement is listed

The output is not a black box. Each change appears with the original beside it and the pass that made it, so you can accept the rewrite or undo the parts you disagree with.

Scored before and after

Both versions are measured on the same fingerprint model and the same six readability formulas, so you can see whether the text got easier to read or only differently worded.

Confidential drafts stay confidential

Client copy, legal drafts and unpublished manuscripts are rewritten entirely in the page. There is no request to a third-party model, because there is no model to ask.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Short, honest answers about quality, limits and privacy.

Does this use AI to rewrite my text?

No. It is a deterministic rule engine: a dictionary of machine phrasing, eighteen sentence-level transformations and readability arithmetic. The same input always produces the same output, and there is no generation step that could invent a fact, a citation or a claim.

Will it get my text past AI detectors?

It lowers the measurable tells — stock phrases, uniform sentence length, stacked transitions, em dash density, passive voice, repeated openers — and the page shows your score before and after so you can see how far it moved. It cannot add the two things no rewrite can supply: a person in the text and something concrete to point at. Those are yours to write, and the detector reports how many points they are worth.

Will it change my meaning?

The passes rewrite wording and sentence shape, not content, and numbers, names, URLs and code are protected throughout. Read the replacement list before publishing anyway: a rule engine is precise about vocabulary and knows nothing about your subject, so it will not notice a claim that was already wrong.

What is the difference between Light, Balanced and Strong?

Light changes only the most obvious machine tells and leaves sentence order alone. Balanced adds phrasing rewrites, sentence splitting and passive-to-active conversion. Strong adds contractions, rhythm repair, paragraph breaking and repetition control. Start at Balanced and move down if the result is too far from your draft.

Can I turn individual passes off?

Yes. All eighteen passes have their own toggle, so a formal document can keep its full forms with Contractions off, a methods section can keep the passive voice that is conventional there, and you can leave the em dashes alone if you actually like them.

Is there a length limit?

400,000 characters, roughly 60,000 words — past any article anybody pastes into a browser. The rewrite runs in one pass on your own device, so a very long document takes a moment rather than timing out against a server.
