Overview

About the Tip Calculator & Bill Splitter

Calculate a tip from the bill and a percentage, add it to the total and split everything evenly between any number of people, with quick-reference tip amounts.

A tip calculator should do three things fast: work out the tip, add it to the bill and divide the lot between however many people are at the table. Enter the bill and a percentage and this tool shows the tip, the total and each person's share, with a quick-reference row for the common 10–25% amounts.

How the split works

The tip is bill × tip% ÷ 100, the total is bill + tip, and each person pays total ÷ people. The tip is divided evenly too, which keeps things simple when everyone ordered roughly the same.

Before you pay

Bookmark it for group dinners — no more passing a phone around doing mental maths, and no more arguing about who owes what.

Private and precise

Every figure is worked out in your browser with standard financial formulas. Nothing you type is uploaded, stored or sent anywhere.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Short, honest answers about quality, limits and privacy.

How much should I tip?

In the US 15–20% of the pre-tax bill is customary for table service, 10% for adequate service and 20%+ for excellent. Customs vary widely by country, and in many places tipping is optional or already included.

Should I tip on the tax?

Most people tip on the pre-tax total, since tax is not a service. Enter the amount before tax for the fairest tip.
