Does this keep the APNG animated?

No. This tool flattens the first frame into a static JPG, which is what you want for a thumbnail or preview. For a moving image, keep the APNG or export an animated format.

What happens to transparency?

JPG has no alpha channel, so any transparent areas in the first frame are flattened onto the colour you choose — white for a light page, black for a dark one.

Is converting APNG to JPG lossy?

Yes. JPG applies its own compression at the quality you set. At 90% and above the loss is very hard to see, and keeping the slider high avoids visible artefacts.

Are my files uploaded to a server?
