What is the difference from grayscale?
Grayscale keeps hundreds of grey steps; this tool keeps only two values, black and white, by comparing each pixel's luminance to a mid-point threshold. The look is graphic, not photographic.
Why does my photo look like a blob after converting?
Photos with soft, even lighting have most pixels near the threshold, so they all fall to one side. Images with strong light-and-shadow separation threshold best; try raising contrast first for flat photos.
