How a brightness multiplier behaves
The tool multiplies every pixel's colour channels by a factor derived from your slider: 100% leaves them alone, 200% doubles them, 50% halves them. Because the multiply is uniform, the image's overall exposure moves while relative tones stay in proportion, which is why it reads as a natural exposure change rather than a wash.
Rescuing under-exposed photos
Indoor and evening shots usually sit too dark because the sensor protected highlights. Raising brightness to 120–150% commonly restores readable shadow detail. Go further and shadow noise amplifies, so pair a big lift with a light blur only if the noise becomes distracting.
Taming over-bright images
Window-lit interiors and snow scenes clip at the top end. Dropping to 70–90% pulls highlights back below the clipping point and recovers texture that looked blown out. Watch the brightest areas while you drag; once they show detail again, stop.
Non-destructive workflow and privacy
The slider never writes to your source file — each preview is re-rendered from the original pixels, and only the final PNG you download carries the adjustment. All of it happens on an in-browser canvas, so nothing is uploaded at any step.

What does 100% brightness mean?
100% is the original, unmodified exposure. Values above multiply pixel luminance to brighten; values below reduce it to darken. 200% doubles, 50% halves.
Why do bright areas turn pure white when I raise it?
Channels cap at 255, so pushing an already-bright pixel past that clips it to white and the detail is lost. Lower the slider until highlight texture reappears.
Is this the same as fixing contrast?
No. Brightness shifts everything up or down together; contrast widens or narrows the gap between dark and light. For flat images you may want both, applied in separate passes.
