Overview
Apply an emboss effect that converts a photo into a chiselled, metallic-looking relief. Adjustable depth, rendered on your device — nothing is uploaded.
Embossing works by subtracting each pixel from its opposite neighbour along a diagonal and centring the result on a mid-grey. Where the image brightens in that direction you get a highlight; where it darkens you get a shadow. Together these tiny bevels read as a surface carved or stamped in relief.
Simple, high-contrast artwork embosses dramatically: a bold logo looks like a minted coin, and black text on white becomes engraved lettering. Detailed photographs produce a softer, more abstract texture, which can still look striking as a background or overlay.
The depth slider scales the bevel strength. Low values give a subtle brushed-metal sheen; high values exaggerate the chisel for a harder, more graphic result. Because the effect is directional, the light appears to come from one corner, which sells the three-dimensional illusion.
Each pixel is processed on an in-browser canvas and the result is exported as a lossless PNG, so your artwork stays private and the relief keeps crisp edges at full resolution.
Step by step
Drop an image with clear shapes onto the upload area.
Raise the emboss-depth slider; forms start to look carved.
High-contrast subjects emboss best — adjust until the relief reads.
Download the embossed PNG at full original resolution.
Why use it
What this tool is good for, and what it deliberately does not try to do.
A directional convolution compares each pixel to its opposite neighbour, producing the light-and-shadow bevel that makes flat artwork look stamped from metal.
Bold shapes, text and icons take on an engraved, coin-like quality that works well for badges, headers and monochrome graphic treatments.
The convolution runs per pixel on a local canvas and exports PNG, so the effect is immediate and your file never leaves the browser.
