How is this different from edge detect?
Edge detect usually renders plain black-and-white contours. This colourises the edges as glowing magenta-cyan neon on a dark field and adds a soft bloom, so it looks like a lit neon sign rather than a line drawing.
Which photos look best?
Images with strong, clean outlines — architecture, objects, portraits against simple backgrounds and line-heavy scenes. Low-contrast or very detailed photos produce fainter neon.
