The first blueprint process
Cyanotype, invented in 1842, was the earliest practical photographic printing method. Iron salts turn a deep Prussian blue where UV light hits them, leaving the washed-out highlights pale. Engineers adopted it for blueprints, and its cool monochrome has stayed iconic ever since.
How this tool recreates it
We map each pixel's luminance onto a ramp from deep Prussian blue in the shadows to near-white in the highlights. Bright areas of your photo wash out pale while darks sink into rich blue, giving the characteristic blueprint aesthetic from any ordinary image.
